Bending behavior of steel-UHPC composite bridge deck based on epoxy adhesive

Using ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) as the pavement layer on orthotropic steel deck (OSD) can greatly enhance rigidity to solve fatigue cracking of and resulting damage layer. However, thin UHPC limits extensive use short stud connector. In this study, three types interfaces were designed by introducing different additives into epoxy matrix, shear properties each interface connector compared. Then, influence connectors optimized composite bridge deck’s bending property was analyzed through test. Moreover, mechanical behavior in is discussed based finite element model. The results show that ultimate load with reduced 21.5% compared has higher stiffness before failure less affected cyclic loading. unsuitable for loading conditions when defect area reaches 30%. Finally, numerical simulation successfully realized cohesive zone model, applicability verified.
